Bertha Louise (Burton) Klitz, 96, of Warwick, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (McPeak) Burton. She was the loving wife of the late Frebert H. Klitz LCDR, U. S. Navy.
Bertha traveled extensively as a Navy wife throughout the country and the world, raising her family with courage and grace.
Bertha was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family with unconditional love. Family and friends were always gathered around the table in her home to enjoy her passion for gourmet cooking. She was an avid Birder and Master Gardener. Her pastimes included reading, knitting, sewing and other needlecraft. Bertha served as the Executive Secretary for the City of Warwick - Chief of Police from 1978-1988. She was also a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America, and always supported Kent Hospital causes.
She is survived by her beloved children, Thomas S. Klitz (Barbara) of North Scituate and Maury M. Hager (Hans) of North Kingstown, her four cherished grandchildren, Kevin Klitz, Katyanne Klitz (Bruno Bastos), Keeley Klitz, and Keith Hager, and three great-grandchildren, Caleb Klitz, Gunnar Bastos, and Kyla Bastos. She was the sister of the late Jeanette Gallerani.
Her Funeral Services will be private. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave, Warwick R.I.
