Beverly J. (Smith) Allen, 77, passed away, with her family by her side, on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Fittingly she departed us to rejoin her husband on Valentine’s Day. Beverly was born in Newport, RI to the late James E. and Florence I. (Potter) Smith. Following her mother’s untimely passing, she was adopted by her father’s new wife, Hope B. (Wright) Smith.

Beverly graduated in 1962 from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School and worked as a telephone operator in many different places, finally ending her employment at Tasca Automotive upon her retirement in 2010. Beverly’s affiliations are a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Past Worthy Advisory of Cranston Assembly, Master of the Grand Cross of Color, Past Mother Advisor of Cranston Assembly, Past Grand Deputy and Past Dean of the Grand Cross of Color. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she was Past Matron of Pawtuxet Chapter, Past Grand Matron 2008-2009 for The Rhode Island Grand Chapter and currently serving as secretary of Signet Chapter. Beverly was also the owner of Ceramics by BJ, which she and Frank ran for years from their home.

She was the devoted wife of the late Frank Allen Jr. for 52 years. Beverly is survived by her daughters Kimberly (Allen) Harrison and her late husband Ronald F. Harrison and Kristen (Allen) Lawson and her husband Michael K. Lawson, all of Warwick. As well as her sister Linda (Smith) Lombari and husband Peter. Sister-in-law Donna Smith (predeceased by her brother Kenneth N. Smith), one niece and two nephews. Beverly/Grandma, is survived by four grandchildren: Hannah M. Lawson, Benjamin M. Lawson, Kathryn A. Harrison, and Daniel A. Harrison; two step-grandchildren Kristen L. Harrison and Joseph F. Harrison II and a great-grandson Matthew A. F. Harrison.

Calling hours will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Saturday, February 20 from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. In accordance with current health guidelines, attendance inside the funeral home will be always limited, facemasks must be worn, and social distancing always practiced.

Her family will gather privately for a graveside service in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Interment will follow.
