Beatrice “Betty” V. (Berube) Blanchard Law, a retired phone operator for the New England Telephone Co. and lunch aide for the City of Warwick, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was 101 years of age. She was the wife of the late Raymond Blanchard and the late Jesse Law. Born in Cranston in 1922, she was the first of two daughters born to the late Henry S. and Georgiana M. (Gendreau) Berube.
Betty’s family remembers her as a woman who loved people and forming friendships and that was evident through her various activities and the organizations she belonged to. She was a member of the Gaspee Seniors for over 40 years and was active in the choir at St. Kevin Church for over 20 years. Betty was a frequent bowler at Meadowbrook Bowling where she was part of numerous bowling leagues throughout her lifetime. For over 21 years, Betty and her neighbor participated in the URI Water Watch Program and took weekly water samples of Little Pond. She and her husband, Jesse enjoyed square dancing and after his passing in 1997, she took up tap dancing. She was a member of the Happy Hoofers and was still wearing her tap shoes as recently as November of this past year. She, and her passion for living life to the fullest will be missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Betty was the loving mother of Dianne Dunsmore (husband, John) and Ronald Blanchard (wife, Diane); cherished Grammy, Gram and Gramma Betty of Scott and Mark Dunsmore, Kristen Raleigh, Kelly Davis and Katie LaCriox; great-grandmother of four. She was the sister of the late June “Pat” Roberts. She is also survived by her step-children Sheila Moscatelli, Glenda Topp, Jack Law and Mary Steinkamp; 8 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren all of whom meant a great deal to her.
Betty’s funeral will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick at 11a.m. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
