Mervin Hoxsie Browning, Jr., 76, died February 28, 2024, at a West Palm Beach, Florida hospital. He was born in Wakefield, RI, the youngest of six children. His parents were Mervin Hoxsie Browning and Mary Frances (Harvey) Browning.

Merv graduated from South Kingstown High School, Class of 1966 and Rhode Island School of Electronics in 1968. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Air Force and then the RI Air National Guard as a Master Sergeant for twelve years.

He was the loving husband of Sharon Ann Giarrusso from Providence, RI. They lived in Warwick, RI, for 29 years before moving to West Palm Beach, FL in 2001. They were happily married for 51 years.

Merv was a biomedical engineering technician at the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI, for 29 years, transferring in 2001 to the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida where he retired in 2004. He was President of the VA Bowling League and the Whirlaways Square Dancing Club. He was a coach and manager for many years for Warwick American Little League and Warwick PAL Baseball.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Tracey Browning, MD, of Suffield, CT and her husband, Robert Peskin, MD; his loving son, Mervin H. Browning, III, and his wife, Gina (Baglini) of West Greenwich, RI. He was the grandfather of Nathan and Benjamin Peskin and Claire and Elizabeth Browning. He was the brother of Grace Wise of Dorset, VT, Martha McDonald of Greene, RI, Peregrine Tripp Browning of Westerly, RI, and the late Mary Browning and Margaret Caswell of Wakefield, RI.

A Funeral Mass will be held on June 29, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Kevin's Church, Warwick, RI
