Warwick Historical Society
The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. A meeting will be held at the Warwick Public Library on Sandy Lane, Monday, June 10, from 7-9 p.m. The speaker will be Patrick Conley, State Historian.
St. Benedict Church
Scouting Program
St. Benedict Church will hold a “Philly Style” cheese steak/chicken sandwich dinner June 8 from 5-7 p.m. in the St. Benedict Parish Center, 70 Transit St., Warwick. Tickets are $10 and Include your choice of a “Philly Style” steak or chicken sandwich; served with potato salad, corn, tossed green salad, chips, watermelon, dessert and beverage. Tickets are on sale by calling the Rectory at 737-9492.
Bayside Beat Concert
There will be a concert to benefit the Conimicut Village Association June 8 at 7 p.m. The concert will take place at Woodbury Union Church at the corner of West Shore Road and Beach Avenue in Warwick. Entertainment will be provided by Bayside Beat, a classic rock band from the Village itself. The cost for admission is $5 and children under 12 are free. Refreshments will be served after the show. Walgreens is the sponsor of this event.
Bingo
Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway, Warwick, is having a Sunday bingo June 9. Doors open at 11 a.m. sharp until 3 p.m. Ample parking, air conditioned, refreshments available for purchase. Minimum of 34 winners.
CVA Meeting
The next meeting of the Conimicut Village Association (CVA) will be Tuesday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Woodbury Union Church downstairs Friendship Room, where a demonstration of the Warwick Police Canine Unit will be presented. Refreshments will be served.
Gorton High School
Luncheon Reunion
There will be a Gorton High School luncheon reunion for classes 1941-1955 and friends at Chianti’s Restaurant, 195 Forge Road, Warwick, June 12 at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15. Call or email Dot for reservations: 463-9535, mcguinn@cox.net.
Flag Day Observance
On Friday, June 14 at 6 p.m., the American Legion Post Two and West Warwick Veterans Council will be holding their annual Flag Day observance at Two Legion Way, West Warwick. The Flag Day observance is open to the public. For more information call 821-9855.
The Boys
Trudeau Memorial Center welcomes The Boys Friday, June 14 at 1:15 p.m. in the Patterson Building cafeteria. The Boys features Steven Smith, guitar; Ben Long, guitar, drums, vocals; Chris Lysik, saxophone, piano, vocals; Adrian Maris, drums; and Jeff DiIorio, guitar, vocals. They have performed musical genres ranging from jazz to Celtic folk.
Child Safety Fair
The Keeping Kids Safe Project will be hosting a free child safety fair in Warwick on June 15 to provide children with free fingerprints and photographs. The child safety organization will take a child ’s fingerprints and send them home directly with parents. Parents can use the record to turn directly over to authorities anywhere in the world to instantly aid in an investigation. There will also be community organizations present to provide safety information and entertainment for families. Join us at the Balise Nissan auto dealership at 1350 Post Road in Warwick from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15.
Metal for Moore
On Saturday, June 15 Winman Junior High School will be collecting all metal items with the help of Sims Metal Management to be recycled. The container will be in the WJHS parking lot from 8-11:30 a.m. Proceeds will go directly to the rebuilding of the Moore, Oklahoma community.
Yard Sale
Church of the Transfiguration, 1665 Broad St., Cranston, will have a yard sale June 15, rain or shine, from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tables for rent $15 each. For more information call Mary Beth at 823-1832 or Carol at 467-7434.
Conimicut Village Yard Sale
The Conimicut Village Association will host its first annual community-wide yard sale Saturday, June 22 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Conimicut residents who would like to participate and get on the list should email leslie@i-networld.com with your address or should call 737-5559. CVA will consolidate all participating households onto one map, which will be handed out the day of the event. Maps will also be available for download from www.conimicutvillage.org after June 20. There is no cost to participate. Advertising will be statewide.
Yard Sale
Zion Korean United Methodist Church will host a yard sale to benefit its ministry/mission works June 22 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the parking lot of the Zion KUMC/Open Table Christ UMC building located at 35 Kilvert St. in Warwick.
