On Friday Mayor Scott Avedisian, toured the new Burlington Coat Factory, located at Rhode Island Mall, next to Walmart, with Anthony D’Antuono, general super for New England Construction.
D’Antuono explained that the entire space where the previous mall was has been “de-malled” and customers will no longer be able to walk inside to different stores. Entrances are from the outside only.
Currently Burlington Coat Factory is slotted to open in mid-September.
“We hope having Burlington here will bring more people here interested in the space,” D’Anutono said.
Although there are several interested parties in the upwards of five other spaces available at Rhode Island Mall, Avedisian said nothing is definite as of now.
“We hope we can bring some diversity, so we don’t have the same stores on every corner. We want to being what’s recent, focus on what we don’t have,” Avedisian said. “ I think Burlington is a good fit and this is a great new beginning.”
