On Tuesday night December 20th at their Christmas party the Photographic Society of RI held their 32nd Annual Food Collection to help those in the community with food insecurity.  They collected 303 lbs. of non-perishable food items which was delivered to Westbay Marketplace.

The camera club was organized in 1927 by a group of engineers as the Camera Club of Providence of the Engineering Society.  They met in the basement of a church in Providence.  In the 1970’s the name changed to Camera Club of RI and the location changed to the Woodridge Congregational Church in Cranston.  In 1986 the location changed once again to its current location at Lakewood Baptist Church.  Once again, the name changed in the 1990’s to the Photographic Society of RI.  Its essential mission of advancing the art and science of photography remains the same.

PSRI has a long and colorful history of Programs, Workshops, Competitions and Friendship. They meet most Tuesdays at 7 p.m. from September to June at Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave., Warwick, RI.  To learn more visit www.psri.us.  The society is  always looking for new members whether a beginner or an advanced photographer.  For more info email president@psri.us.
