Ray Di Pasquale, president of CCRI, has withdrawn his name as a candidate for the commissioner of education for Louisiana. Di Pasquale was one of three finalists for the position, which the Louisiana board is expected to fill this week. In a message to CCRI trustees Di Pasquale said, " I am writing to let you know that I have withdrawn my name from consideration for commissioner of higher education in Louisiana.
Given the nature of this position, I felt that I had to explore the opportunity, but I have decided to stay in Rhode Island and remain your president. I am proud of the good work we are doing at the Community College of Rhode Island. I would like to thank those who have reached out with kind words in the time since it was made public that I was a finalist for the position.
I look forward to working with all of you to continue to make our college a truly extraordinary experience for our students and spending the rest of our 50th academic year and beyond with you. "
