Drink up! National Coffee with a Cop Day returns once again this Wednesday, October 2nd at the McDonalds located at 770 Post Rd. across for the former Aldrich Junior High School.
This event held from 9 to 11 a.m. will help open dialogue, break barriers, and improve relationships between communities and law enforcement. All while sticking to the same cliché of cops loving their coffee and doughnuts.
Formed in 2011, California officers from the Hawthorne Police Department looked for ways to successfully, and positively interact with the public in a neutral setting. Thus, Coffee with a Cop Day was born and has been successfully held all over the country. By growing success, and by opening the door to dialogue, law enforcement and community members have begun to come together on a world scale as well. Since its formation, the program has expanded outside of the U.S into Canada, Europe, Australia, South America, and Africa.
Captain Ryan Sornberger along with Officers Jill Marshall, Alfred Melucci, Albert Marano, James Vible, and Live PD star Matthew Moretti plan to be at McDonald’s. And joining them will be Officer Timothy Lipka with his friend from the K-9 unit, Haki there as well.
