Warwick Continental and Warwick West Side are both making early noise in the 11-year-old and 9/10-year-old District 3 Tournaments.
On the 11-year-old circuit, Continental had a bye to the second round, where it beat perennial powerhouse Coventry National 7-2 for a spot in the winner’s bracket semifinals. Continental will now visit Coventry American on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Coventry American won its opening-round game 2-1 over Westerly.
West Side’s 10-year-old squad also won its first game, beating rival Warwick National 13-3 on Sunday to move into the winners’ bracket semifinals. West Side will visit Wickford on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for a spot in the winner’s bracket final.
West Side is also competing in the 11-year-old tournament and lost its opener 10-4 to Wickford. It will host a loser’s bracket game Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against East Greenwich.
In the 9/10 tournament, Continental was edged out 11-10 by Wickford in its first game and will visit Exeter/West Greenwich today at 6:30 p.m. Warwick National, also in the loser’s bracket, visits North Kingstown tonight at 5:30.
West Side Juniors drop opener
Warwick West Side has a team entered in the Junior League District 3 tournament, which opened Sunday. West Side faced North Kingstown in its first game and lost 7-4.
The team is back in action in a loser’s bracket game on Saturday, with opponent and location still to be determined.
