Gasoline prices in Rhode Island jumped sharply this week, up 11 cents, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s April 18 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.15 per gallon, 11 cents more than last week. Rhode Island’s price is four cents above the national average for regular unleaded of $2.11. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 32 cents higher at $2.47.
“High fuel demand, declining refinery production and rising oil costs have pushed prices higher,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 20 cents, from a low of $2.05 to a high of $2.25. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up – every time.
