The Don Rodrigues Karate Academy of Warwick captured 26 trophies at the Krane Fall Karate Classic held recently at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick.
Anthony Zangari captured 1st place in Men’s Black Belt Lt. Wt. Fighting and the Overall Men’s Fighting Grand Championship. John D’Angelo captured 1st place in the 16-17 Black Belt Weapons and the Overall 14-17 Weapons Grand Championship.
Others capturing trophies were: Ashley Sacrey – 1st in Forms, 1st in Weapons, Gary Meegan – 1st in Forms, 1st in Weapons, George Bradley – 1st in Open Forms, 2nd in Trad. Forms, 3rd Trad Weapons, 3rd Open Forms and 3rd in Fighting, Chris Nolan – 1st in Weapons, Alexander Brooks Major II – 1st in Fighting, 1st in Weapons and 2nd in Forms, Deninse Gouvin – 1st in Forms, 2nd in Weapons, Cindy Gabriel – 2nd in Weapons and 3rd in Forms, Liz Forde Proffitt – 2nd Weapons and 2nd in Forms, Matt Martin – 2nd in Fighting, and James Martin – 3rd in Weapons and 5th in Fighting.
With just 12 students competing, they captured 2 Overall Grand Championships, 11 First places, 6 Second places, 6 Third places and 1 Fifth place trophy. The Competition Team is sponsored by Ocean State Collision Center from Pawtucket, RI.
