Donald F. Kennedy, Jr. (Ret. Capt. RI State Police), 68, died Friday, April 15, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Orokos) Kennedy, and son of the late Donald F. Kennedy, Sr. (Ret. Sgt. PPD, Chief Burrillville PD) and the late Joan M. (Riggs) Kennedy. Donald served with the Rhode Island State Police for 24 years, retiring as Captain. After his retirement he joined NESPIN as Deputy Director, ultimately rising to lead the organization as Director. He was the devoted father of Joshua Kennedy (Sgt. WWPD) (Christine), Phillip Kennedy (Firefighter NPFD) (Heather), Nathaniel Kennedy, Esq. (Jessica), Wesley Pellettieri and Dawn Bouvier (Jamie). He was the brother of Paul Kennedy (Ret. Deputy Police Chief PPD) (Ana), Edward Kennedy, Lt. PFD, the late Robert Kennedy and Kevin Kennedy. He also leaves his 8 grandchildren and his beloved dog, Cooper.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park. Visiting hours Friday, 4-8 pm.
