William J. Duggan, 85, of Community Road in Warwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Warren Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Warren, RI.
Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Glennon) Duggan.
William served for six years in the United States Army. He was a Machine Operator at Owens Corning in Central Falls for over 35 years, retiring as a supervisor with the company. At the same time, he was the owner and operator of the Vacuum Cleaner Hospital in Pawtucket for over 30 years. He enjoyed sports, especially the New England Patriots and he loved sailing.
He is survived by his children, Thomas J. Duggan and his wife Kam of Lowell, MA, Brenda Duggan of North Kingstown, Cindy Raposa and her late husband William of Warren, Kathleen DeSousa-Barlow and her husband Howard of Bristol, RI and Colleen Raposa and her husband Steven of Ashland, NH; a sister, Loretta Coogan of Warwick; 7 grandchildren, Heather DeSousa (Billy Luppert), Steven Raposa, Jr. (Jaimie), Stacy Beal (Joshua Karten), Keith Raposa (Sonni Almeida), Joseph Raposa (Cassandra) and Zackary Raposa and 9 great-grandchildren, Keith Jr., Harrison, Lachlan, Parker, Sebastian, Daniel, Julia, Endora and Kaleb. He was the father of the late William J. Duggan, Jr., grandfather of the late Jordan DeSousa and the brother of the late John Duggan, Glenna Downs and Marilyn Leach.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, followed by interment with military honors in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. Visiting hours Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
