Elizabeth L. (Sheahan) McKay, 83, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Kent Regency Center in Warwick, RI. Betty was the loving wife of Edwin McKay of Warwick for 53 wonderful years. She was born in Portland, ME to the late Charles L. and Marguerite (Houle) Sheahan. Betty had previously worked at Providence Washington Insurance, Firemen's Insurance, John Hancock Life Insurance Company, and RI Automobile Insurance Plan Service Center (A.I.P.S.O.). During her 20-year career at A.I.P.S.O., she began as a bookkeeper and worked her way to Senior Accountant. She was a graduate of Cranston High School East. Betty was proud to earn her Associates Degree in Business Management at the Community College of RI in 1999. Betty was adored by friends and family and always saw the best in everyone. She was also famous for wishing everyone "Peace and Love!" Betty adored her husband Eddie, who she considered her “King of Hearts”. She also deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and her two dogs Rufus and Chloe. In her retirement, Betty became a big fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and was a weather fanatic. Besides her husband, Edwin McKay, she is survived by three children: Lisa A. Franchetti (Anthony) of Warwick, RI; Susan Emerson (Sean) of Broad Brook, CT; and Dr. Shawn McKay (Janet) of Florence, SC. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Matthew, Daniel, Charlie, Megan, and Sam. In addition, Betty is survived by several nieces, nephews, former neighbors, and coworkers with whom she shared laughter and love. She is predeceased by two siblings, Charles "Ted" Sheahan and Germaine Roche. Her family wants to send their love and gratitude to the staff at Kent Regency Center. The whole staff took loving care of her over the past year and treated Eddie and her like their own family. They made Kent Regency Center feel like home. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI. Masks will be required for attendance. Remembrances may be shared at carpenterjenks.com. Family and friends may go directly to St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick for her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3.
