Fred N. French, Jr., age 80, of Warwick, and connoisseur of jelly donuts, passed away at home on Friday, May 20, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary D. (Costello) French, his angel and caretaker.  They were married for 48 glorious years.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a son of the late Fred N. and Jesusa (Fontanes) French, he lived in Warwick for the last 50 years.  He was a proud U.S. Army veteran.
Fred was employed as a plasterer with Zabbo Plastering in Warwick for 40 years, retiring 15 years ago.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his cherished daughter, Kelli C. McPherson-Herbeck and her husband Jeremy Herbeck, of Warwick; two adored granddaughters, Charlotte D. McPherson and Alice D. Herbeck; his caring sister-in-law, Sandra Schaefer and her husband John; his fun loving brother-in-law, William Costello; and his younger sister, Paula French of Warwick.  He was the brother of the late Jimmy French and John French.
He will be greatly missed by his Wii golfing partner and best friend, Russell Maioli. He is also survived by friends and family too numerous to mention.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, May 26, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick.  Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 25, from 4-7 p.m.  Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
