Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down five cents from last week, and are at the lowest level locally since late February, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s Sept. 21 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.25 per gallon, down five cents from last week. Prices locally are 22 cents lower than a month ago. The current price is four cents less than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.29. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was $1.18 higher at $3.43.
According to RhodeIslandGasPrices.com the lowest gas price in the state as of Tuesday morning was $2.04 a gallon at the Harss station at the intersection of West Shore Road and Warwick Avenue.
“Lower crude oil prices, along with record supplies, and less demand as summer ends all are contributing to the lower prices,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 33 cents, from a low of $2.11 to a high of $2.44. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up- every trip, every time.
