Gerald “Gerry” M. Schennum, 79, of East Greenwich, R.I. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 19th in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born May 3, 1943 in Minnesota, and was stationed in Rhode Island when he served in the U.S. Navy and he never left. He retired as Yard Manager at Norton’s Shipyard & Marina in East Greenwich after over 30 years.
Gerry was an avid boater, both sailing and power and enjoyed days out on Narragansett Bay tubing and water skiing and beaching their powerboat at Potters Cove for clambakes with family. He enjoyed playing cards and board games, working around the house and spending time with family and friends in Rhode Island and Florida.
Gerry is survived by and missed by his loving wife, Patricia (Norton) of 32 years and their cocker spaniel Mya, sons Craig Schennum of West Warwick, RI and Roy Pratt and wife Kathy of Cortland, N.Y., daughter Stacy Rouleau and husband Marc of Warwick, R.I. along with their grandchildren, Haley Rouleau and her fiancé Eric of East Greenwich, RI and Kaitlyn and Shawn Pratt of Cortland, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Gladys Schennum (Westby) of Minnesota, his brother Dean Schennum of Montana and his sister Karen Rovente of California.
Services will be private.
