Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England (GSSNE) is hosting several events in January for girls and adults who are interested in participating in Girl Scouts. Registration will be available at each event, and girls who sign up will receive a special Girl Scout patch.
Girl Scout Day will be held on Sunday, Jan. 18, at the URI Women’s Basketball Game. At 1 p.m., the URI Dance Team will offer a clinic for all girls. Following the game, girls can meet the URI basketball players during an autograph session. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance by emailing rdowding@gssne.org or calling 331-4500, ext. 1301.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18, there will be an opportunity for shoppers to find out more information and register for Girl Scouts at the Providence Place Mall. GSSNE staff will be located near Macy’s on the 2nd floor.
On Monday, Jan. 26, GSSNE will be participating in “FUNday Monday” from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Alex & Ani Providence Ice Skating Rink. There will be fun activities and registration available in the heated pavilion. Children 12 and under will receive $2 off the admission price.
“Through each of these events, girls will get to experience a sampling of the fun that Girl Scouting has to offer,” said Neil M. Stamps, GSSNE CEO. “We also want to get the word out that there are Girl Scout programs offered year-round, so both girls and adults can join at any time.”
Girl Scouts is open to all girls from kindergarten through grade 12 and adults over age 18 may become volunteers. Girl Scouts volunteers come from all walks of life: men, women, young professionals, retirees, college students and more.
