The Rhode Island Interscholastic League Wrestling State Championships took place last weekend at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, and many locals would make some noise on the big stage.

Hawks take 3rd at states

The Rhode Island Interscholastic League Wrestling State Championships took place last weekend at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, and many locals would make some noise on the big stage.

Ponaganset took first place as a team, while Bishop Hendricken placed third overall and Cranston West sixth.

Spencer Fine won another state title at 182 pounds for Hendricken, while Joe Church won the heavyweight title for the Hawks.

Hendricken’s Colby Vital took second at 145 pounds for the Hawks

Braeden Campbell took third at 160 pounds for Hendricken, while Pilgrim’s Justyn Murphy placed fourth at 160.

Toll Gate’s Tyler Hunter placed third at 170 pounds for the Titans

Hendricken’s Caleb Sclama finished fifth at 170 pounds, while Pilgrim’s Trevor O’Connor placed fifth at 182 pounds. Toll Gate’s Tyrisse Volmar took fifth at heavyweight.

Hendricken’s Seth McGrew finished fifth at 120 pounds while teammate Braydon Wilding finished sixth at 126 pounds.

Cranston East’s Eneas Castillo placed second at 138 pounds while Luke Montefusco placed second at 152 pounds for West. Andrew Alchihed finished second at 220 pounds for West

Cam Davis finished in third place for West at 120 pounds, while teammate Vincent Merlino took fourth at 195 pounds.
