The Bishop Hendricken hockey team won its fourth straight game on Friday night, defeating Cranston West 4-1 at Thayer Arena.
Since losing to Smithfield on Jan. 24, the Hawks have gone on a tear, winning their next four by a combined 24-6 score. Against the Falcons, they took a 2-0 lead in the first period, saw their lead shrink to one in the second period but then added two third-period goals to finish the job.
Four different Hawks – Kiel Fuller, Andrew Fera, Jamie Armstrong and Jonathan Finelli – scored goals, while Reilly Miller added two assists. Fera and Armstrong each had an assist as well, as did Sam Boulanger, Pat Creamer, Bryce Dolan and Jason Comeau.
Hendricken out-shot the Falcons 27-17, and Matt Kenneally made 16 saves in goal. The win completed a series sweep for the Hawks, who also beat West in early December.
Hendricken is now 9-2-1 and trails only Mount St. Charles, which is 12-2, in the standings. The Hawks will have a chance to narrow that gap and get a leg up in the loss column on Wednesday when the two teams square off at 5:30 p.m., at Thayer Arena. The Hawks also play La Salle on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Thayer. (Warwick Beacon photos by Leo van Dijk / rhodyphoto.com)
