Jerry Peshka, right, who has served as president of the Gaspee Days Committee, has returned to lead the all volunteer group that stages multiple activities including an arts and crafts show, road race, parade and parties in commemoration of the burning of the British ship Gaspee on June 9, 1772. Here Jerry and Steve Miller, who served two years a president during the 250th observance of the incident that locally is called “the first blow for freedom” are pictured at a recent installation ceremony at Aspray Boathouse in Pawtuxet.
