To the Editor:
It was with interest that I noted in the “People on the Move in Rhode Island” section of the April 26 Providence Sunday Journal the name of the distinguished Dr. Michael Dacey, COO of Kent Hospital. He has agreed to join the Board of Governors of the Warwick Boys and Girls Club. It’s people like the doctor who add a depth to the Board and make the Club a viable force in the community.
The article called up memories of 53 years ago (1962) when a group of us were struggling to put together such a Board. One of our members was the late Dr. John Ferris, on the staff of the Kent County Memorial Hospital. His joining added a huge degree of recognition to our nascent Board of Directors. However, at that time, no public recognition was forthcoming, so it’s an honor for me to make the announcement a half-century later.
