Joseph M. “Joey” Andrade

Joseph M. “Joey” Andrade, age 17, of Warwick, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in Rhode Island Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Warwick he was the beloved son of Patricia A. (Muto) Andrade and the late Joseph M. Andrade. Joey was the beloved grandson of the late Thomas J Muto and Teresa J Muto.  He leaves his paternal Grandmother, Josephine Hannan.

Well known in the community, Joey attended day school at the Sargent Rehabilitation Center in Warwick, where he sadly leaves his many teachers and friends.  As part of the Autism Project in Johnston, he enjoyed the Move & Groove group where he participated in weekly activities.  His time at the Wannagoagain Summer Camp was special to Joey where he met friends and counselors who became a big part of his life. At camp, Joey enjoyed the pool as much as he enjoyed bringing his big red ball along to each activity.

Often the one to light up a room, with his big heart and contagious giggle, he loved his red hippity hop balls, Elmo, landscaping, the Celtics and “big” rides in the car with his Auntie Jeanne. Being non-verbal Joey had the ability to teach the world to listen in other ways.

Closest to his heart, he leaves his cousin, TJ Kyle, whom he considered his best bud and confident.  Their relationship is indescribable, they are the dynamic duo, always connected by an invisible thread.   “Bud Time” was a treasured time they both enjoyed.

Although Joey is no longer physically here, he will always be in the hearts of all the amazing people who were lucky enough to cross his paths, especially his caregiver and friend, Bobby.

In addition to his mom, he is survived by uncles Tom Muto and wife Kim, Jim Muto and his companion Laurie, Jack and his wife Gina, Rick Kyle, Bill and his wife Joanne and his Auntie Jeanne Muto-Kyle. He also leaves many cousins.

His Celebration of Life service was held Monday, March 20, 2023 at 10:00am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick. Burial followed in Quidnessett Cemetery, North Kingstown.  Visiting hours Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 4-7pm.
