Just in time...the sun
TORCH BEARER: Mayor Scott Avedisian headed out to sea to set fire to the replica of the H.M.S. Gaspee for the 48th annual Gaspee Days celebration.
PLAYING THE PART: Dagger and his grandfather Silverbeard showcased the pirate lifestyle on Sunday. Silverbeard, who has been attending Gaspee Days for over 25 years, showed off his prized bargaining tool, an emerald ring placed securely on a severed finger dangling from his neck. He wears it to show people if he wants something they have, he has no problem taking it.
TOO LOUD: Kyla Coburn made sure her sons, 5-year-old Seven and 2-year-old Skye, had their ears covered as the Pawtuxet Rangers set off their canon. “It was fun, but it was scary too,” said Seven.
Blowing Bubbles: The Gaspee Parade Grand Marshal Bob Burke fires off bubbles.
NOT SO EASY: Four-year-old Sadie Haugh tries her hardest to complete a traditional colonial game as Sgt. Denise Foggo of the Pawtuxet Rangers looks on and provides encouragement.
ON THE RED WHITE AND BLUE: The Pawtuxet Rangers led Saturday’s parade that was blessed by sunny weather following Friday’s downpour.
Frederick Holst, former commander of the Rangers, carries the mace.
