This Friday, May 22, John Wickes Elementary School will host the JDRF Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes.
At 9 a.m. students in grades 1 through 6 will join the school’s staff for a walk, led by the Warwick Fire Department, to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This organization is leading the funding for research on Type 1 Diabetes.
Several students at Wickes have Type 1 diabetes and over the last two years the school has raised $4,500 for the Foundation.
The walk will take students through the Wickes neighborhood and then the 2nd graders will sing a song for those students with Type 1 diabetes.
