Dorothy “Dottie” Irene (Rose) Kiernan, 82, of Warwick passed away at home on April 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late George J. & Ruth E. (Wilber) Rose, and sister of the late Walter J. Rose.

Raised in South Providence, she attended St. Michael’s School and St. Patrick’s High School.  Upon graduating, Dottie went to work for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence from 1958 until her retirement in 2005.  Her technological and artistic talents were valued across various departments at the Diocese and were appreciated by many throughout her career.

Dottie had a great sense of humor and was happiest when her whole family gathered together. Family events were always spent laughing, playing card games, and enjoying time together. She loved to cook and host dinners for her children and grandchildren. Her passion for art, music, and movies inspired everyone around her and brightened each day.

The family always turned to Dottie for advice and inspiration, and she always knew what to say and had the perfect answer. Positive and forgiving, she touched many lives, and her love, generosity and kindness were immeasurable.

Dottie is survived by her children James A. (Marlene), Dr. Anne F. Kiernan-Nieves (Rafael), Kenneth E. (Tracey), Christopher J. (Lisa), and seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Olivia, Rachel, Gabriella, Ian, Gavin, and Trenton.
