Knead is also collecting toiletries, gift cards and small sensory toys for the children of St. Mary’s between Friday, December 14 and Friday, December 21 at both their Elmgrove and downtown locations.
Last year, as part of its first anniversary, Knead raised more than $1,000 and donated almost a dozen bags of socks and underwear for Clothes for Kids. Knead hopes to raise more money and collect more items this year for St. Mary’s.
“As parents, we want to bring more awareness to sexual abuse happening in our own community, even if it is an uncomfortable topic,” said Knead co-founder Adam Lastrina. “St. Mary’s specializes in children who have been sexually abused as young as four years old. This is unimaginable and incredibly sad, and we want to be part of the solution.”
Items needed include: Gift cards ($5-10 denominations) from stores such as Walmart, Target, Domino’s Pizza, Providence Place Mall, Warwick Mall or GameStop; Toiletries, including women’s cosmetics, body spray, hygiene items, and playing cards and sensory items for kids include stress balls, kinetic sand, silly putty, and fidget spinners (new and unwrapped).
