The six candidates running for three district seats on the Warwick School Committee will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to voters and respond to questions in a live-streamed forum this evening co-sponsored by the Warwick Beacon and the Warwick Public Library.
The forum will start with opening comments by the candidates at 5:30 p.m. The forum can be seen by clicking on the link on the Warwick Beacon and library websites. John Howell, editor and publisher of the Beacon, and Lara D’Antuono, executive director of the Warwick Boys and Girls Clubs, will ask questions of the candidates.
None of the six candidates are incumbents.
Running in District 1 comprised of Wards 1, 2 and 3 are Frank Brown and Shaun Galligan. Vying to represent District 2, made up of Ward 4, 5 and 6 are Steven DiPalma and Leah Hazelwood. Candidates in District 3 representing constituents in Wards 7, 8 and 9 are Michelle Kirby Chapman and Charles Donovan Jr.
School Committee posts are non-partisan. Members serve four-year teams. In addition to district representatives, the committee has two at-large members whose four-year terms expire in General Year years.
