Looking for local summer fun? Look no further, there are plenty of events coming up around Rhode Island to get excited about! Our local recreation and public libraries have great programs running all summer long, and we’ve picked out some of our favorites. These free-to-attend events are a cool way to enjoy the summer heat!

Johnston Parks and Recreation will host two more food truck nights before summer is over. On July 27th and August 31st, come down to Memorial Park starting at 4:30 pm. Enjoy live music and support small businesses!

The Johnston Public Library has many activities running this summer, including teen gaming tournaments every Wednesday afternoon. The fun starts at 3 p.m. with Mario Kart, immediately followed by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 4 p.m. Teenagers 6th grade and up are welcome to attend, with prizes awarded to the winners! Warwick will host three more of their own food truck nights before the summer ends. On July 18th, August 15th, and September 12th, the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Crossings will host the events from 5-8 p.m. There will be live music and a great opportunity to share a night with your local community.

There’s something for people of all ages at the Warwick Public Library this summer. Adults could pick up a new hobby and stop by the knitting and crochet group which meets every Tuesday from 6-7:30 pm. People of all skill levels are welcome, For more information contact the Reference Desk at 739-5440 ext. 4. Cranston Parks & Recreation is starting up its Summer Concert Series, spanning from July 11th to August 22. Nine concerts will take place with six performances at William Hall Library, and the remaining three at Itri Park in Knightsville which celebrated its grand opening last summer. The Cranston Public Library’s Oak Lawn Branch offers sensory stations for children ages 0-5 each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Registration is available online for this free program, any questions can be directed to Tayla Cardillo, via email: tcardillo@cranstonlibrary.org, or via phone: 401-942-1787.
