Maureen Ellen Gallagher, 58, of Warwick, died on Sunday, May 3rd, 2020, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the longtime companion of Paul J. Sousa of Warwick.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Richard F. and Sheila M. (Hickey) Gallagher. Maureen found her true calling in helping others as a direct support professional. She enjoyed working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Maureen was a Direct Care Worker at the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center and formerly at Bradley Hospital until illness forced her retirement. Maureen had a soft spot in her heart for any animal. She took comfort in the companionship of her beloved dogs and horses throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed traveling and music. Her true pleasure in life was having simple conversations with the ones she loved while sipping an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts.

Maureen will be missed terribly by all her family and friends, but she will be reunited with her parents, grandparents, and all her pets that she loved and cared for throughout her lifetime.

She is survived by her loving child, Isabelle G. Sousa, her siblings, Michael O. Gallagher and his wife Jenny of West Warwick, Nancy H. Meunier and her husband David of Holly Springs, NC, Karen J. Peckham and her husband Charles of Wood River Junction, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Due to current health and safety regulations, her Funeral Service will be private. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to a scholarship fund for her daughter in the care of Michael Gallagher are greatly appreciated.
