Raymond G. Mayette, age 96, of West Warwick, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Ann R. (Marshall) Mayette for 55 years. A lifelong resident of Warwick, he was the son of the late Albert and Rachel (Gourd) Mayette.
Raymond and his family-owned State Shellfish and Bayview Seafood Companies for many years. These companies supplied Rocky Point Shore Dinner Hall for over 20 years, as well as many other seafood establishments in the state of Rhode Island.
Upon completing service in the Merchant Marines and the United States Navy, he received his bachelor’s degree from Bryant College. After selling the seafood business, he joined Lachance Enterprises as sales manager for several years. Once he retired from Lachance Enterprises, he formed his own business, Mayette Enterprises, a brokerage and real estate company. He was the past treasurer of the Warwick Businessmen’s Association and volunteered for several years at the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: L. Susan Weiner of Narragansett, RI and Leslie Young of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Katie, Richard, and Zoe; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Merlene Mayette of Wakefield, RI; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Roger Mayette and Alberta Morin.
