The Arthritis Foundation is holding a seminar entitled “More Life, Fewer Limits: A seminar for people with rheumatoid arthritis,” Saturday, March 1 at the Radisson Airport Hotel, 2081 Post Rd. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., and the program will run from 10 to 3:30 p.m. The seminar is ideal for people who have rheumatoid arthritis and those who care about them. The program is supported by a grant from Pfizer, Inc. Registration is required by Feb. 14.
The program includes presentations on pain, fatigue and depression; nurturing healthy relationships while managing a chronic illness; eating for health; and increasing energy with exercise. Participants will have an opportunity to attend a round-table session with the speakers following the pain, fatigue and depression presentation. An optional e-advocate training will conclude the daylong seminar.
Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in Rhode Island and the U.S., affecting 218,000 Rhode Islanders and almost 53 million people nationally. Arthritis pain and disability make it hard to accomplish daily activities, ruin relationships and destroy quality of life. The good news is that never have there been so many options for managing rheumatoid arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation’s “More Life, Fewer Limits” seminar will showcase some of these options.
The seminar is free and open to the public. Registration is required by Friday, Feb. 14. Register by calling the Arthritis Foundation at 739-3773.
