To the Editor:
Thanks to the Buckeye Brook Coalition members and friends, the annual Earth Day cleanup was a great success.
The event had 107 volunteers and we filled 101 bags of mixed litter equal to an estimated 2,500 pounds. We piled up 1,200 pounds of loose trash like wood, metal and plastics, and we pulled out 15 tires. This was all accomplished in three hours at nine sites throughout the watershed.
Thank you to everyone who helped out on this 17th annual event.
Special thanks go out to 83 members of Troop 1 Conimicut, Troop 7 Buttonwoods, Pack 1 Warwick and Pack 1 Buttonwoods. Also to the fine community organizations: Conimicut Village Association; Mill Cove Conservancy; and Warwick Neck Neighborhood Association. Thanks to the businesses which helped out to make this all possible: Diffley & Daughters Septic Services; Knights of Columbus; D’Ambra Construction; and Picasso’s Pizza. Last but not least City of Warwick Sanitation Department and the Warwick Beacon for such great coverage.
To everyone, because of your hard work, the Buckeye Brook watershed is even nicer to look at.
Paul Earnshaw
President Buckeye Brook Coalition
