Women & Infants Hospital’s 2022 Gala: A Celebration of Mother & Nature, held June 11, raised more than $385,000 and was attended by 250 community leaders, grateful patients, friends, and colleagues. Proceeds of the event will support the hospital’s Campaign to Deliver Our Future and the new Labor & Delivery Center at Women & Infants Hospital. The event, held at the WaterFire Arts Center, was emceed by Margie O’Brien Reed, host of Rhode Island Capitol TV, and was co-chaired by Matthew Patty, Kimberly Cadden, and Elizabeth Catucci.

“I am truly humbled by the generosity and support shown by so many for Women & Infants and the Campaign to Deliver Our Future. I am also grateful to the sponsors of the event and the leadership volunteers and committee members who worked so hard to make this year’s event a great success,” said Shannon Sullivan, President, and COO of Women & Infants Hospital.

“Women & Infants Hospital is committed to creating a new Labor & Delivery Center that advances the quality of care we provide to every newborn and family we treat,” she said.

The event’s leadership contributors included Cynthia B. Patterson, Jack and Judith Remondi, Atlantic Management, Heather M. Campbell, Malcolm G. Chace Jr., Cox Business, Hinckley Allen, IGT, Southern New England Healthcare for Women, Webster Bank, and Women & Infants Medical Staff Association. Artists from Exquisite Entertainment, Ten31 Productions, and Boston Circus Guild provided décor and entertainment for the evening. 

For more than 135 years, Women & Infants’ mission has been to provide exceptional health care to the families in our region. New technologies, personalized delivery options, and more patients with special birthing needs have led to the need for an innovative model of care and a new Labor & Delivery Center.

Grateful patients, including Denise Meza Reidpath, Christine Paige, and Judith Remondi shared their Women & Infants Hospital experiences at the event.  Denise shared, “My journey to motherhood was long.  From a pregnancy loss at 7 weeks to a birth plan with my son that didn’t go at all as planned, Women & Infants was with me, my partner, and our son every step of the way.  I know my experience is my own and is unique, but it was excellent and I am grateful.”

Additionally, Women & Infants volunteer and leader Anne Szostak received the Cynthia B. Patterson Lifetime Service Award for her more than 20 years of service to Women & Infants Hospital.

Sullivan recognized Szostak as an ardent champion of Women & Infants and women’s health. She started as a volunteer with Women & Infants in 1999 and served as the chair of the hospital’s board of trustees as well as the chair of the Onward Campaign to build the Carter Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She remains a member of the Quality Committee at the hospital. She received the award to honor her dedication, generosity, consistency, and wise counsel.
