John E. Murphy, Jr., age 79, of Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Sunny View Nursing Home in Warwick.
Born in Newport, the was the son of the late John E. and Gertrude J. (Lynch) Murphy. John was a life-long resident of Warwick, and was a graduate of Pilgrim High School. John worked for many years at Gorham Manufacturing. His special interests over the years were stock car racing, the stock market, and his large record collection, especially Elvis Presley music.
John was a devoted son, looking after his mother for many years, and a kind brother who will be very much missed.
He is survived by his sister, Maureen Amend and her husband Thomas, of Naples, Florida; and his nephew, Mark T. Amend and his spouse Susan, of Woonsocket, RI. He was the brother of the late Anne L. McLaughlin and her husband, the late Raymond McLaughlin, of Florida.
