The Narragansett Bay Symphony Community Orchestra will present the final concert of their second season on Sunday, June 5, at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the Smith Center for the Arts at Providence College, 1 Cunningham Square (Eaton Street entrance) Providence.
On the program is W.A. Mozart’s brilliant Overture to “The Impresario.” Also on the program is the warm and lyrical Symphony #4 by Gustav Mahler. This beautiful symphony illustrates Mahler’s great love of nature with full, humorous, and scintillating orchestration. The final movement features the lovely soprano voice of Rhode Island’s own, Ilana Goldstein singing with the orchestra words from the folk poetry, “The Youth’s Magic Horn”. These poems attempt to answer the great question of life from a child’s perspective as the child gives the audience a tour of heaven as he sees it.
The Narragansett Bay Symphony Community Orchestra is led by the newly appointed Music Director, Benjamin Vickers. NaBSco is celebrating its 10th anniversary as an orchestra and the second season as The Narragansett Bay Symphony Community Orchestra (NaBSco), that is of the community and for the community.
Tickets are available online at www.NABSCO.org or at the venue on the day of the concert. General admission is $15 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Help support the Rhode Island Food Bank by bringing a non-perishable food item to the concert. The Smith Center for the Arts is handicap accessible.
This concert is sponsored in part by The RI Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School, the Carter Fund, and by private donations. For more information call Amy Goldstein at 274-4578 or visit www.NABSCO.org.
