With the American Legion season nearing its halfway point, New England Frozen Lemonade/Shields Post 43 continues to assert itself as one of the top teams in the state. NEFL carried an 8-1 record into a Wednesday doubleheader with Gershkoff Auto Body/Auburn Post 20. Results of the games were unavailable at press time.
Since taking two out of three from Senerchia Post 74, NEFL has won two in a row. The team beat J2 Design Sharks of North Kingstown 5-4. On Monday, NEFL topped West Warwick Post Two 6-4.
Heading into Wednesday’s games, NEFL had the fewest losses in the league. Upper Deck Post 86/14 and Navigant have both
played more games and have 10 wins each. NEFL has allowed the second-fewest runs in the league.
NEFL’s next home game is Friday at 5:30 p.m. against North-leading Upper Deck.
Senerchia is also in the mix near the top of the Central Division standings. Heading into a week on the road, Senerchia is 9-5 and riding three straight wins. The last two were blowouts – a 13-0 win over Providence Post 56 and an 11-0 win over East Bay/Riverside Post 10.
Senerchia hosts North Providence on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
