Direct service to Washington, D.C. and Cincinnati, OH provided by American Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Allegiant Airlines resumed this week.  Direct service to Reagan National Airport (DCA) was suspended by Southwest Airlines and American Airlines in early May as a result of lowered service demand. 

 Allegiant Airlines resumption of seasonal service to Cincinnati is returning as planned, having been suspended for the season in September of 2019. T.F. Green Airport is currently the only commercial airport in New England providing direct service to Cincinnati.

American Airlines resumed once a day direct service between T.F. Green Airport (PVD) and Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. (DCA) with one-way airfare starting as low as $129 each way and round trips at $176 on June 4.

Allegiant Airlines resumed twice a week seasonal service to Cincinnati, OH (CVG) on Mondays and Fridays with airfare starting as low as $30 each way on June 5. 

Southwest Airlines resumed twice a day direct service between PVD and DCA with airfare starting at $49 each way on June 7.

 “We’re pleased to see what we expect to be a slow but steady return of service to and from Rhode Island, providing additional options for travel and connecting service to numerous destinations,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation in a release.  “It will be many years before we see a return to 2019 passenger levels, but we appreciate the continued efforts of our airline partners to provide safe travel options, as well as the positive attitude of passengers who are taking their own steps to keep themselves and their fellow travelers safe and healthy.”

 The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) has also been informed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide an estimated 182,000 face coverings for airline passengers and personnel at T.F. Green Airport (PVD) and the state’s public general aviation airports, including Block Island State Airport, Newport State Airport, North Central State Airport, Quonset State Airport, and Westerly State Airport.  FEMA is providing approximately 87 million cloth face coverings for distribution to airports throughout the nation within the next two weeks, including more than eight pallets for RIAC, containing 22,500 face coverings per pallet.

RIAC continues to remind travelers to respect state and local health advisories regarding COVID-19, reminding passengers at T.F. Green Airport of Rhode Island’s executive orders to wear face coverings in public settings, and the need to continue 14 day self-quarantine requirements for individuals who return to Rhode Island after international travel or domestic travel from regions that have extended stay-at-home orders (public health, public safety, and healthcare workers are exempt.)

T.F. Green Airport cleaning crews continue enhanced sanitizing protocols, utilizing EPA and CDC approved hospital grade disinfectants, electrostatic sprayers, and automated cleaning technology to efficiently and effectively sanitize escalator railings and other high touch areas throughout the terminal. Passengers are also being encouraged to check with individual airline policies regarding COVID-19 policies, including facemask requirements.
