Darlene Radcliffe-Dumont R.N., a clinical manager at Bayada Home Health Care, has been named the 2014 nurse of the year in Rhode Island by the National Association for home Care & Hospice (AHC & HHNA) Home Health care Nurses Association. This distinction underscores the skilled care, compassion and total devotion to the profession of nursing that characterizes her work at Bayada Home Health Care & similarly informed her service, for more than two decades, at Rhode Island Hospital. Darlene braved a major storm and various warnings to visit one of her client’s Jason J (pictured her), who has quadriplegia. Her above and beyond efforts held great importance because Jason lives with only his elderly grandfather who is physically limited from providing his needed care. Darlene stepped in for a snowed-in certified nursing assistant and provided Jason care and safety during a potential power outrage. Darlene is a Warwick resident and the daughter of Al and Sylvia Cherms.
