Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) was recently named the 2019 Community Partner of the Year by the Nonviolence Institute at its Invest in Peace Gala. The mission of the Nonviolence Institute is to teach the principles and practices of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions.
Marc Perlman, principal owner and CEO of Ocean State Job Lot, accepted the award. "I get a chance to hold the trophy, but I've got thousands of associates who believe in a similar fashion to the way I do, that supporting this cause is an important use of the capital we're able to create," said Perlman during his acceptance speech. "These folks at the Nonviolence Institute are doing a wonderful job, and we're very proud to be their partner."
