With all but a few finishing touches to a new Mill Cove Bridge, the full length of Tidewater Drive was reopened Friday. The bridge replacement forced the closure of through traffic last fall, which was to have been restored in late June. However, because of the severe winter and coordination of sewer and natural gas service work, the bridge was delayed. A binder paving was used on the road so it could be reopened. The final paving is to take place next year after the road has compacted. Here, Ward 5 Councilman Ed Ladouceur, who has pushed for completion of the bridge and Mayor Scott Avedisian remove barrels to reopen the road.
