Rev. Dr. Amy L. Chilton came to Phillips Memorial Baptist Church with an impressive resume. Chilton earned a PhD from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2015 in Systematic Theology; her secondary interest was in Philosophy. Her Masters in Divinity came from Fuller Theological Seminary Northwest, Seattle, Washington, in 2007 and her BA in Biblical Studies, Youth Ministry and Social Science, came from Puget Sound Christian College in Edmonds, Washington, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2001.
Chilton was born and spent her early years in Portland, Oregon. Since graduating from university and seminary, she has lived and worked in many areas of the country, ministering to diverse populations. In addition to her Ministry, she has taught as an adjunct professor in theology at several universities.
The church’s Search Committee spent almost two years in looking for the right pastor for its congregation. Upon recommendation, the committee was referred to Chilton. Phillips Memorial connected right away and knew this was a match from the beginning. Chilton brought joy to everyone she met during the interview process.
Chilton is not only a phenomenal pastor, but she is a mom to a beautiful daughter, Vija, and pet mom to a great sheep-a-doodle, Daisy.
Amy has a big “bucket list.” One of her great ambitions in the state is to visit every church steeple and ring every church bell in Rhode Island. Spread the word, come and visit Phillips Memorial Baptist Church at 565 Pontiac Avenue in Cranston, RI and meet Rev. Dr. Amy L. Chilton Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.
