“Meditate On,” a collection of photographs by Adarini Inkei and Prabhakar Street offering a visual interpretation of short poetic meditations by author and artist Sri Chinmoy, is now on display at the Warwick Library through Dec. 31.
Using imagery to represent such qualities as peace, happiness, self-confidence, beauty, dynamism, hope and inner strength, the photographers invite and encourage viewers to draw inspiration by reflecting on these qualities.
The exhibit is presented by the Rhode Island Sri Chinmoy Centre, a meditation center located in East Providence that offers free instruction in meditation, participates in a biennial Peace Run and has dedicated local landmarks in an international Peace Blossoms program including Rhode Island bridges with plaques in Cumberland, Pawtucket and East Providence, a causeway in Exeter, and the town of Portsmouth.
A prolific writer, Chinmoy authored numerous books of devotional poetry, plays and Eastern philosophy. One of his most popular books, The Wings of Joy: Finding Your Path to Inner Peace, is available to borrow from several libraries across the state of Rhode Island.
