HABITUAL SHOPLIFTING

Around 5:23 p.m. Dec. 11, 2023, Warwick Police responded to the Lincoln Police Department for a warrant pick-up. Lincoln Police took Justin M. Westley, 43, of 160 Broad St., Providence, into custody on an outstanding Warwick arrest warrant.

Westley was charged with Shoplifting Over $100 (second offense; a felony) and Habitual Offender (a misdemeanor) following an incident on Aug. 28 at Best Buy, 24 Universal Boulevard.

According to Warwick Police, officers were dispatched to the store after receiving a call for a shoplifting incident in progress. Dispatch was advised that a man wearing a blue sweater and a New York Yankees hat had just left the store with stolen merchandise and was walking toward the Olive Garden.

Police were able to identify the suspect through security footage, and issued the arrest warrant. According to the store, the concealed merchandise was valued at $479.96 (and included computer data storage accessories).

ATTEMPTED LARCENY & CONSPIRACY

Around 5:45 p.m., Jan. 1, Warwick Police responded to an address in the city (redacted in the report) to investigate a fraud complaint. The caller told police that a woman was “attempting to purchase gift cards and miscellaneous items with possible fraudulent checks,” according to the arrest report.

An employee showed police a photo of the suspect, and a matching photo in a binder kept at the business. The suspect had allegedly “already attempted to pass fraudulent checks” in the past.

Police spotted the suspect in a nearby store, and the woman walked away “briskly” to the back, sounding the alarm as she exited through an emergency door.

Police identified the suspect as Pamela C. Vohringer, 42, of Millville, New Jersey.

“It should be noted that upon closing the distance between Vohringer, she lunged forward, tucking and rolling down a 20 foot rocky embankment,” according to the narrative written by Warwick Police Patrolman Thomas Pederzani.

When officers reached her, Vohringer allegedly resisted arrest.

She was eventually placed under arrest and now faces six separate charges: Attempted Larceny (over $1,500); Attempted Larceny (under $1,500); Conspiracy; Simple Assault; Resisting Arrest; Disorderly Conduct; and two counts of Fugitive from Justice (linked to outstanding warrants from police in New Jersey and Pennsylvania).

Police also identified a second woman who was arrested at the scene. According to police, Alicia A. Peralta, 20, of 801 Boardwalk, Apt. 1060, Atlantic City, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with Attempted Larceny (over $1,500); Attempted Larceny (under $1,500); and Conspiracy.

VANDALISM

Shortly after 10 p.m., Oct. 10, 2023, Johnston Police Patrolman Richard J. Varan responded to the report of vandalism to a vehicle at an address in town (redacted from the incident report). He met with the victim who told him that between 10 and 10:05 p.m. someone vandalized his 2009 Honda Civic while it was parked in his driveway.

The vehicle had no registration because the owner said he had just purchased it. Police note that the victim told them there was an altercation with another individual, whose name was redacted from the incident report narrative.

Police did, however, identify Alfonso D. Paolantonio, 32, of Lincoln, as the suspect, and eventually issued an arrest warrant for Vandalism/Malicious Injury to Property, a misdemeanor.

On Dec. 21, around 4:30 p.m., Johnston Police responded to the Warwick Police Department Headquarters, where they took custody of Paolantonio, who was wanted on the vandalism warrant. He was handcuffed and transported back to Johnston Police Headquarters.

Police updated the address listed for Paolantonio, now 33, as 123 Endicott Drive, Warwick.
