Roland Augustus Jones, 88, of Bradenton Florida passed away on August 27, 2022. He was the husband of 66 years to Joan L. (Clemence) Jones. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Roland V. and Florence (Bouchard) Jones.
Mr. Jones worked for many years at AM Wood Company in East Providence and Taco Heaters and Ed’s Sunoco in Cranston, Rhode Island. He was an endless “tinkerer” and was fondly known for repairing family and friends’ cars, motorcycles, outboard motors, bicycles and just about anything mechanical. He especially looked forward to the annual summer vacation with his family that started with a tent trailer and progressed through a series of recreational vehicles and his beloved “motor home”.
He is survived by his children Susan Laroche of Bradenton, Florida, Mark Jones and his wife Zahra of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Danielle Boyett, Nicole Calhoun, Tanya and Kamran Jones; and great grandchildren, Camilla and Regan Boyett. Roland and Joan opened their home to numerous foster and adopted children over the years who they loved and cared for as their own.
Funeral and burial services will be private. A celebration of life ceremony in his adopted state of residence will be announced for a date in the future. His family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of Casa Mora Rehabilitation and Extended Care in Bradenton, FL for their devotion and care. 88, of Bradenton Florida passed away on August 27, 2022.
