Roundup: Hawks win in extras

The Bishop Hendricken baseball team picked up a 7-6 extra inning win over East Greenwich on Monday.

Tied 6-6 in the ninth inning, Braden Campbell would reach base on a walk and would eventually work his way home to claim the win for the Hawks. Jack LaRose got the win on the mound for Hendricken, pitching two innings with one strikeout. Connor Kennedy and Brendan McCaffrey each struck out two batters on the mound as well.

 

GIRLS LACROSSE

Toll Gate 12, Smithfield 11

The Titans held on to win a 12-11 thriller over Smithfield on Tuesday.

Toll Gate would take a 6-3 lead at halftime, but the Sentinels would surge in the second half to pull themselves back into it. However, the Titans would hold on to earn the win.

Adeline Areson led the way with six goals and three assists while Alina Jencks added three and Kara Yelman two. Leo Fortin chipped in a goal while Katie Pale and Morgan Caianiello added assists. Toll Gate goalie Jillian Costello racked up 11 saves in the cage.

 

BOYS LACROSSE

Burrillville 9, Toll Gate 6

The Broncos got the win in a big Division III battle on Monday over the Titans.

Burrillville would take a 6-1 lead at the halftime break, and although Toll Gate would outscore the Broncos in the second half, it would not be enough to close the gap.

Brady Martin and Jacob Rianna scored goals for the Titans while goalie Christopher Schifino finished with 14 goals in the cage.
