Roundup: Pilgrim clinches top seed

The Pilgrim softball team beat Prout 16-9 to wrap up its regular season and clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Division I postseason.

Alyssa Twomey pitched four hitless and scoreless innings while picking up six strikeouts for Pilgrim. Twomey and Audra McDonnell had monster days at the plate, each recording four RBI while Marin Prest and Sophia Chevian each knocked in two runs.


Toll Gate 8, North Kingstown 2

The Titans wrapped up their season with an 8-2 victory over North Kingstown. Sydnee Perreault led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI while Marlee Walsh went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Delaney Wilson got the win in the circle for Toll Gate, pitching seven innings and allowing just two runs on two hits while striking out seven batters.


BOYS TENNIS

La Salle 4, Hendricken 3

The No. 2 Hawks saw their season come to a close when No. 3 La Salle traveled to Hendricken and picked up the semifinal win.

State champion Jack Ciunci won his singles match 6-2, 6-1 while Nick Komari won at second singles, 6-3, 7-5. Jahn Torres won at third singles for Hendricken, winning 6-4, 7-6 (8).


BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Hendricken 3, Classical 1

The Hawks have turned things around in the home stretch of the regular season and picked up a win over the Purple last week.

Brian Garrepy led Hendricken with 22 kills while Ben Warr added 17. Cooper Weir recorded 14 digs on defense for the Hawks.
