Roundup: Pilgrim extends win streak

The Pilgrim softball team continues to roll in Division I and beat Chariho 5-4 in nine innings on Monday.

Trailing by a pair of runs in the ninth, the Pats would score three runs, including the walk-off game winner from Marin Prest to extend the team’s win streak to four games.

Skylar Hawes and Audra McDonnell knocked in runs while pitcher Gretchen Dombeck pitched all nine innings, allowing just two earned runs and striking out five batters.

BASEBALL

Pilgrim 5, Toll Gate 4

The Pats picked up their first win of the season last week when they edged rival Toll Gate.

Aidan Dumond led the way for Pilgrim at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI while Liam Budz went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Jack Smith got the win on the mound, tossing four innings and allowing one run and striking out five batters.

Jayden Gonzalez went 2-for-3 for Toll Gate and drove in a run. Also recording RBI were Shane Moro, Jamie Luna and Michael Blair. Geoff Laliberte pitched 4 1/3 innings for Toll Gate and picked up five strikeouts.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Toll Gate 18, Mt. Hope 2

The Titans continue to surge in Division II and Adeline Areson scored seven goals to propel the team to another dominant outing. Delanie Wheeler scored four goals while Lucy Lajoie scored as well for Toll Gate.

BOYS LACROSSE

Westerly 13, Toll Gate 3

The Bulldogs rolled past the Titans on Tuesday, but David Kennedy had a solid outing for Toll Gate as he scored each of the team’s goals.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Central 3, Pilgrim 0

The Pats are still searching for their first win after getting swept by Central on Tuesday. Jared Dosremedios led Pilgrim with 10 assists.

La Salle 3, Hendricken 1

The Hawks fell to rival La Salle on Tuesday night. Ryan Yin led Hendricken with 11 kills on offense.
