The Rotary Club of Warwick wrapped an anniversary observance, community project and a fundraiser into a meeting Thursday at the Norwood branch of the Warwick Boys and Girls Clubs. The occasion was what is known as a “million dollar meal,” where members pay the regular luncheon meal price but are served sandwiches with the cost difference going to the Rotary Paul Harris Foundation. The foundation, named after the founder of the service organization that was started in 1905. Since 1957 the foundation has focused on the worldwide eradication of polio. Thursday’s million-dollar meal went a step further than sandwiches with a cake celebrating the work of the foundation followed by a service project where members brandished rakes to clean up a Boys and Girls Clubs parking lot.
